This is a group activity in which all members participate in cooperation with others. The art form requires that musician learn carefully and respond to both themselves and others thus building a sophisticated set of listening skills. Focus is on the child; not the curriculum! Class is designed for parents to participate in the activities and share in the fun! Playing should be fun, yes? We take the approach that drumming and playing music is more fun if it’s fun. You already have everything it takes to share wonderful music making with friends and family, but there are a few tricks that make it a little easier….
Learning patterns and foundational rhythms gives us a start point for improvisation, so there’s a good bit of that going on, as well.

No class scheduled right now. If you want this class for your group or school, let me know! How do we go about making this drum speak?Drumming is a language. We can show you a few words and phrases, and experiment with how to create rhythmic poetry in harmony with others.
This class is for people just getting started. Class is structured to answer your questions and to help you discover your inherent musician! Bring an instrument if you have one; we’ve plenty if you don’t. I can show you a basic vocabulary and this is a great place to practice making sentences! I use our Drummin’ Buddies Hand Charts book to get you started on rhythms and we take it from there!
